A helping hand

With our team of experts, we have developed a series of guidance notes to help you through the whole Decision Tree process, from the initial stages of figuring out if trees will work on your farm, right through to the management of your established trees.

These guidance notes are designed to be simple, helpful and informative but remember, you can always contact us if you need more information or have a query that is not covered.

  • A great place to start!

That is, of course, along with doing an assessment using the Decision Tree calculator. Below you will find some excellent resources on why plantation forestry could be an ideal option for you, along with information on land requirements, tree species, assistance, carbon and carbon credits.

  • Let's get planning!

Now you have made the (excellent) decision to plant trees as a crop, you will want to take a look at the second stage of guidance notes. These notes will take you through tree establishment, the benefits of using trees for farm shelter, site selection, regulations and risk mitigation.

  • Time to break soil!

That's right, it's time to source your seedlings and get ready for planting. After all that planning, your site will soon be brimming with a green tinge of potential. The following set of guidance notes will provide you with the information you need to source your seedlings, prepare your site and start planting.

  • As with any crop, some maintenance is required for your trees to keep them at their best.

Healthy trees are important to maximising your yield and subsequently, your profit. In this series of guidance notes, we look at tree management and what you can do to keep your trees in optimum condition, including how to tackle pests and look for signs of nutritional deficiencies.
